☆☆☆☆☆ The Bugles Are Silent
by John Knaggs
This has to be the most extraordinary fictional work on the Texas Revolution! The author gives us both perspectives of Texas and Mexico...during the battles, AND Houston along with Santa Anna. It's an istorically accurate novel, that I promise you'll be wanting more on the subjects after you've finished. Mr. Knaggs puts you into the situation, you feel the swampy water in your boots, you hear the sounds, you feel the terror and remorse for lives lost, you wipe the dirt from your face -along with all the mixed emotions of victories and defeats. I also found that the two leaders were surprisingly alike in leading their army! Personally, after completing the book, I will continue to peruse more on the history of Texas and continue to learn things because of this book. I highly recommend this book for any historical novel buff!
